This sweet girl was dropped off at my Dad’s work today, she is about 9months old based on her teeth and development. She will probably be a 35-40lb dog when fully grown and nourished. She has been very clearly abused, she’s covered in cuts and scrapes and a case of mange that needs to be treated. We cannot take her on, we have two dogs her size already and this house just can’t support her. She is a sweet dog who responds well to attention and just wants a little bit of love. If you or anyone you know is willing to help out this sweet girl in the Wichita, Kansas area, please contact me immediately so we can get her somewhere safe.

Dirty and unkempt, famished and dehydrated, this beautiful Cocker Spaniel was close to death when she literally walked into my life on a hot summer night almost six years ago. Though rarely in optimal health, Maggie always possessed a regal temperament and a sense of propriety that’s uncommon among most people, let alone canines.

Her well-being took a turn for the worse after bouts with several long-term ailments led to kidney failure. When the discomfort became too much to bear in her already fragile condition, we put Maggie to sleep Friday afternoon (on the 150th anniversary of “Stonewall” Jackson’s death). She was stoic and dignified, as always, to the very end.

I kissed Maggie every day. She will be missed.

My unfortunate habit of helping every other stray/abandoned dog I come across may have finally backfired. This ol’ girl, probably an American Staffordshire Terrier, is obviously beautiful. But she’s also rowdy and lacks even the slightest, most basic sense of propriety. Any attempt at discipline is completely lost on this pooch.

I found her wandering in the middle of a road near the Raleigh neighborhood of Memphis (an ever-declining area to say the least). I left some treats, which I keep in the middle console of my SUV, on the sidewalk and waited to see if she would notice. Long story short: she bolted to my side and wouldn’t leave. Lacking the impudence to simply leave her stranded, I picked her up and basically dumped the canine at my mom’s house.

Initially less than thrilled, mom has now developed an emotional attachment to this raucous thing. Her other three dogs, on the other hand, are less than thrilled. I guess that’s my fault. Sometimes my heart is bigger than my head.

This boy has down-syndrome. I saw this video of the dog approaching him and trying to play. Firstly, the boy was terrified. The dog was incredibly gentle and continued to nudge the boy and comfort him. Then after countless attempts, they become best friends.
I think this is beautiful
